Repurposed Chicken Fat Offers Efficient Green Energy Storage Alternative

Researchers at Yeungnam University in South Korea have developed a technique to convert chicken fat into carbon-based electrodes for supercapacitors, offering a cost-effective and environmentally friendly energy storage solution. The method involves burning chicken fat to create carbon nanoparticles, which are then treated with thiourea to enhance their electrical properties. The resulting carbon nanoparticles, known as h-CNOs, exhibit exceptional performance in supercapacitors, surpassing traditional materials in terms of capacitance, durability, and energy density. This innovation highlights the potential of utilizing food waste, such as chicken fat, to advance the development of eco-friendly energy storage devices.
