All Schools in Kenya to Reopen on Monday, May 13 – President Ruto Announces

President William Ruto has announced that all schools in Kenya will reopen on Monday, May 13. The decision comes after the suspension of the initial reopening date, which was set for April 29, due to heavy rains and flooding.

President Ruto made the announcement at State House, Nairobi, stating that the government has made adequate arrangements, including providing resources through NG-CDF for repairs of classrooms and other learning facilities.

The decision to reopen schools follows a warning by the meteorological department about ongoing heavy rains and the likelihood of worsening flooding. The President emphasized the importance of parents preparing their children to return to school.

The postponement of the reopening date was initially announced by Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu, citing the adverse effects of flooding on some schools. President Ruto’s announcement now confirms the new reopening date for all schools in Kenya.
