Kenya and Somalia Sign Agreement on Political Consultations, Education, and Defence

Kenya and Somalia have signed an agreement on collaboration in the areas of political consultations, education, and defense. The agreement, signed in Nairobi, aims to further solidify bilateral cooperation for the mutual benefit of the people of both countries.

Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, who is also the cabinet secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, highlighted the importance of the agreement, noting that it was made possible by the dedication of technical officials from both countries to address issues amicably. He emphasized Kenya’s special relationship with Somalia, citing their common border and strong partnership.

Ahmed Moalin Fiqi, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Somalia, mentioned that both countries have also made efforts to enhance cooperation in security and capacity building. This includes initiatives such as enhancing the skills of health professionals and training police officers.

The signing ceremony took place during the third session of the Kenya-Somalia joint commission for cooperation (JCC), demonstrating the commitment of both countries to strengthening their ties and promoting regional stability.
