Police Officer Stabbed, Body Found on Roadside in Lang’ata

Police are investigating a tragic incident where the body of Corporal Mark Ayabei, stationed at Lang’ata Police Station, was found lying in a pool of blood on the roadside in Nairobi. Two private guards at Ngei Phase II along Kitengela Lane discovered the body early Friday morning. Upon examination, it was revealed that Ayabei had suffered two stab wounds to his chest. The motive and perpetrators behind the fatal stabbing remain unclear. His body has been moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and further investigations. Ayabei was believed to have been on duty and heading home when he was attacked.

In a separate incident, two police officers were stoned and injured while attempting to arrest a motorcycle rider allegedly transporting jerricans of chang’aa in Juja. The officers, patrolling along Kenyatta Road-Gatundu Road at Kibii Center, intercepted the rider, who resisted arrest and raised an alarm. This prompted a mob of about 20 riders to attack the officers with stones and sticks, enabling the suspect to escape. The injured officers were treated and discharged from the hospital. Police have launched a manhunt for the mob to face charges of assault and aiding the escape of a suspect.
