Senator Okiya Omtatah Warns President Ruto of Potential Legal Consequences

Busia Senator Okiya Omtatah has cautioned President William Ruto about the implications of disregarding the Constitution in governing the country. Speaking on Citizen TV’s ‘The Big Conversation’ show, Omtatah warned that the President’s actions could lead to legal consequences after his term ends.

Omtatah highlighted the importance of adhering to the Constitution, pointing out that there are measures in place to punish government officials who violate it. He urged President Ruto to consider the fate of former presidents in South Korea who were jailed for disregarding the law during their time in office.

Regarding the ongoing Finance Bill, 2024 debate, Omtatah criticized the government for using it as a diversionary tactic. He urged Kenyans to focus on the alleged corruption hidden in the budget, estimating that nearly Ksh. 100 billion could be misappropriated.

Omtatah emphasized the need for transparency in budgeting, calling for detailed explanations of expenses to prevent what he termed as “budgeted corruption.” He urged the public to scrutinize the budget estimates available on the Treasury website to uncover any irregularities.
