Dina Sanichar was a feral boy discovered among wolves in a cave in Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh, India in February 1867, at the age of around six. A group of hunters found him and decided to take him away, smoking the pack out of the cave and unfortunately killing the mother wolf in the process.
He was then sent to the Secundra orphanage in Agra, where he lived among other humans for over twenty years. During this time, he was given the name Dina Sanichar. Despite being in a human environment, Dina Sanichar continued to exhibit behaviors characteristic of his upbringing among wolves. He walked on all fours and consumed only raw meat. Moreover, he communicated in wolf-like grunts and howls, never learning a human language.
Tragically, Dina Sanichar’s life did not improve significantly despite living among humans. He remained disconnected from human society, unable to adapt fully to his new environment. He ultimately passed away in 1895, leaving behind a poignant reminder of the profound impact of early upbringing on behavior and communication.
