iPhone 16 Pro Expected to Support Wi-Fi 7 for Enhanced Speeds and Reliability

The upcoming iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max may feature a significant upgrade in connectivity with support for Wi-Fi 7, according to a recent leak. If true, this would mark a notable enhancement over the Wi-Fi 6E support found in the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.

Wi-Fi 7 is set to offer dramatically higher speeds compared to Wi-Fi 6E, with theoretical speeds exceeding 40Gbps—four times faster than its predecessor. In addition to faster speeds, Wi-Fi 7 promises lower latency and increased reliability, which could greatly benefit activities like online gaming and large file downloads.

This rumor, reported by DigiTimes and corroborated by analyst Jeff Pu of Haitong International Securities, suggests that Wi-Fi 7 support might indeed be included in the iPhone 16 Pro series. Pu’s track record adds some credibility to this claim, though it’s still advisable to approach the information with caution until official confirmation.

To fully leverage Wi-Fi 7’s capabilities, users will need a compatible router, which are currently not widespread. Additionally, a high-speed internet plan is required to achieve the maximum benefits. For many, the addition of Wi-Fi 7 may primarily serve as future-proofing rather than offering immediate, significant improvements.

The final confirmation of these features is expected when Apple unveils the iPhone 16 series, likely in September.
