US Imposes Sanctions on AO Kaspersky Lab Executives

The Biden administration has imposed sanctions on 12 senior executives at AO Kaspersky Lab, citing cybersecurity risks. This action follows the announcement of plans to ban the sale of the Russian company’s antivirus software. The sanctions target various leadership roles at Kaspersky Lab, including the chief business development officer, chief operating officer, legal officer, and corporate communications chief. The move is aimed at protecting against malicious cyber threats and ensuring the integrity of the cyber domain. Kaspersky Lab has denounced the sanctions as unjustified and baseless, stating that they will not affect the company’s operations significantly. The company denies any ties to the Russian government or its military and intelligence authorities.
