Friday Declared Public Holiday to Mark National Tree Planting Day and Honor Flood Victims

The government has declared Friday, May 10, as a public holiday to mark the National Tree Growing Day and to remember Kenyans who have died in the nationwide floods. The decision was announced by Government Spokesperson Isaac Mwaura, with further directions expected from Cabinet Secretary for Environment, Forestry & Climate Change, Hon Soipan Tuya, during a press conference.

The day will also serve as an initiative to plant 10 million trees to rehabilitate Mau forest. This move aims to address environmental concerns and promote reforestation efforts across the country.
