Tanzania Declares End of Cyclone Hidaya Threat After Coastal Impact

The Tanzania Meteorological Department has officially announced the end of the Cyclone Hidaya threat, following its impact along the country’s coastal region on Saturday morning.

The department stated that Cyclone Hidaya had significantly weakened and dissipated, no longer posing a threat to Tanzania. Despite this, the department advised Tanzanians to remain vigilant as rainfall is expected to continue.

Images shared online showed that while the cyclone caused strong winds and property damage in Mafia Island, no fatalities were reported.

Meanwhile, the Kenya Meteorological Department has warned residents along the Kenyan coast to be on high alert as Cyclone Hidaya is expected to reach the Kenyan coast on Sunday.

The announcement from Tanzania brings relief to residents who were bracing for the impact of the cyclone, highlighting the importance of early warning systems and preparedness in mitigating the effects of natural disasters.
